Happy New Years!
This is anticipated to be the final development release, featuring important bug fixes and a few last-minute feature updates before our official launch. Notably, the Erosion device has been re-parameterized for more intuitive, controllable results. Check out the highlights below:
Full Changelist
Major Changes
Erosion
- Parameter interactions between (Bedrock strength, Water power, Soil scour) have been remapped.
- Bedrock Strength now preserves the terrain completely when set to its maximum value, while still producing full sedimentation. This can help prevent over-channelized areas.
- Water Power can be fully disabled and has a significant impact on erosion character and volume.
- Soil Scour now governs all sediment production. Negative values enable volumetric expansion.
- Erosion parameters are reordered by importance.
- Better parameter mapping from old world files.
Instance Scatter
- Added Heading parameter for direct control over instance rotation.
Flow Restructure
- Basin Angle now provides better results when supplied with a spatial parameter.
Other Changes
- Various example projects converted to Hurricane Ridge and additional Example files added
- Scalar parameter now accepts a scalar input (This is actually useful e.g. inside of a macro to produce a distance value from a scalar).
- New Project options always available via drop-down
- 3D View now shows the active device and port, and provides clearer warnings if no data is present.
- Blur device now supports higher-quality small-pixel blurs.
Bugfixes
Major
- Fixed crash issue when writing RGB OpenEXR files.
- Fixed crash issue when exporting an output that required a world build.
- Fixed crash issue where placement inputs were not being validated.
- Fixed lack of validation of placement inputs for localspace / resolution
- Fixed bug in Meshify with high-resolution input causing quality to be very bad low.
- Building or Build-To now properly clears sleep states in memory conserve mode.
- Fixed a command-line issue preventing files with long filenames from opening.
Minor
- Fixed very longstanding bug causing macros to count progress to 200%. 😉
- Fixed bug where Detach workview command would not falsify disconnected outputs.
- Fixed stuck scrolling when 3D viewport loses focus.
- Fixed active scene/list on left sidebar not being updated when switched.
- Fixed inability to set a scene name in project settings.
- Fixed Create Water progress reporting/cancellation.
- Fixed ‘swimming’ water z-fighting issue where the shoreline would move sometimes in the 3D view.
- Fixed issue where devices were not being invalidated correctly when edited within macro.
- Fixed text alignment issue in Explorer view.
- Fixed issue where Project general settings was not disabling rescale tweak slider when unsupported rescaling type selected.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback as we finalize Hurricane Ridge. Enjoy these new features and improvements!
